Wakeup Call

This one probably warrants some explanation… :-)

As a kid, I was awakened one night to this very phone call.  I must’ve been somewhere between 8 and 12 years old, I’d guess.  The phone rang in the middle of the night, and for whatever reason, nobody else got up to answer it, so I did.  And that message was my reward.  While we’ve joked over the years that it was a secret message from a Russian spy who dialed a wrong number, I have a feeling that the truth is far less exciting.  Anyhow, if you’re the person who woke me up with this urgent message 30-some years ago, rest assured that I have never forgotten it.  I’m just not exactly sure what I’m supposed to do about it.  :-)

Actually, I’m kinda shocked that it took me this long to draw a comic strip about it!  :-)

It was ME! Muahahaha! You will know what it means… when the time comes.
No. Not really. That would be weird though. I’ll have to do that to someone from a payphone.

Yeah, Curtis, the whole caller ID thing makes it harder to pull that kinda stuff off anymore… and cell phones killed most of the pay phones… that’s why Harold has to change into WonderBrat in a porta-potty instead of a phone booth! But I digress… :-)
