This is just a re-drawing of one of the strips in the book, except that it’s expertly colored in magic marker.

And you may notice that this strip is entitled The End…. and in this case, it’s prophetic.

I am indeed ending my webcomic Hamster Tails today.  The site will remain up until my host contract expires, which, honestly, I’m not sure exactly when that will be.  So it’ll be here for a while but I won’t be drawing any new Hamster Tails strips.

It has been a great 3-plus year run, and I’ve had a blast doing it.  I’ve just decided to go in a different direction, cartooning-wise.

While I love this strip, I’m actually pretty excited to be embarking on a new journey.  I have a couple of projects I’m currently working on, and both are in the early stages, so I can’t give any details about either of them just yet, but I hope to know shortly, and to have something new to show everyone in the not-too-distant future!

So, I just wanted to say thank you, to everyone who’s ever stopped by here, and to my fans, and especially to my family and friends who have been so supportive of my comics and even occasionally entertained by them!   I appreciate you more than I can say, and I’m looking forward to having new things to show you soon!

The top strip is based off of a real-life event… I don’t remember a lot of specifics, other than that I had my dad beep the horn at a neighborhood girl on her bike to scare her as we drove past her.  Everybody seemed to think it was funny except her.  Ah, childhood…

I think George is trying to escape in the last frame, by twisting off his water bottle.  I’m pretty sure, anyway… I drew these things a long time ago, y’know…

Looks like Harold’s dad’s got some serious halitosis, the way Harold’s leaning away from him while he talks.  Which is even funnier than the punch line, if you ask me…

I experimented here with all capital letters.  I figured almost every comic strip on the planet did its wording with capital letters, so it was high time I tried it.  I didn’t like it.  You can see that the experiment only lasted until the final panel.  Just didn’t like how it looked.

I like how I drew such a crappy gun that I had to write “gun” with an arrow pointing towards it so people would know what the heck it was.  And how poor Skippy, already tied to the roof on a thousand-mile drive, got sat on by WonderBrat on top of it all.  Pretty resilient dog, I have to say…

For once, I blatantly ripped off a comic strip other than Peanuts!  Yep, stole a page from ol’ Bil Keane and the Family Circus here.

I was always very proud of the way the car came out in this cartoon.  I remember I used a picture of a VW in a Consumer Reports magazine as the model.  I think it was a Rabbit, if I remember correctly.  I mean, it looks a little wonky now, but for me as an 11-year-old kid, that was a darn good car drawing.

And, for those of you who are curious, I made it to the final round, but I did not end up being one of the 3 winners in the Cartoon Contest.  But I was glad to make it as far as I did, and appreciate everyone’s votes and support!  Thanks!

Not a whole lot to say about these strips… except that it’s kinda cool how the fire hydrant turned into a dog in the top strip.

I’m running out of ways to say that this comic strip was a LOT like Peanuts.  The dog house, the lemonade booth that looks just like Lucy’s psychiatrist booth, the whole ”Happiness Is…” thing…

I was 11.  I’m pleading ignorance.

Poor George didn’t celebrate too many birthdays; the next year, he would escape from his cage for the last time and become a midnight snack for my cat Fluffy, a tragic event documented multiple times on this website..

Not sure who’s peeking out of the tree in the bottom strip… probably a squirrel…
